An iconic Kilmarnock nightclub is set to reopen for the first time in years just in time for Christmas.

Bakers, in the town's Fowlds Street, has been closed for several years, after failing to reopen when the pandemic hit.

The nightclub was one of Ayrshire's busiest, and attracted people of all ages from across the area for DJ sets and live bands.

The venue is now set to reopen on December 15, but will first see a special DJ set from iconic Scottish band The View, following their headline show in the town on December 14.

A Bakers spokesperson said: "We need to let the cat out the bag at some point. Our official opening date is the 15th of December, all going to plan, but we were asked if we could open a night earlier for this, and who are we to say no?

"Told you we’d come back with a bang and what better way to do that than have a wee party with the boys from the View."
