A KILMARNOCK woman left a man scarred for life after attacking him with a mug.

Lori Thomson, 26, pled guilty to one charge in relation to the assault - which took place on Mosshead Road in the town on January 29 this year - when she appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court.

She admitted assaulting a man by striking him on the head with the item, with court papers stating the assault left the victim severely injured and permanently disfigured.

Follow her guilty plea, Thomson, of Sunnyside Road, was ordered to pay £1,000 compensation to the victim.

She was also placed on a community payback order which will see her placed under social work supervision for 18 months. 

She was also ordered to complete 240 hours of unpaid work in the same time period.
