An online fundraiser has been launched to bring some Whoville Christmas magic to Ayrshire in 2024.

It it set to include a movie-quality live action Grinch actor, an interactive movie set, local vendors, warm refreshments and affordable entry.

Whoville is the fictional town where Dr Seuss, creator of the Grinch, based much of his work.

Now Propshak, Kilmarnock's centre of excellence for film and theatre productions, is looking to develop a unique festive event next year.

The organisation is dedicated to providing high-quality training and development programs for young people seeking to access film and theatre productions.

Led by founder Shakeel Anwer, a lack of funding meant the Christmas experience could not get off the ground this year.

However, donations, sponsorships and volunteers are now being sought to bring the event in 2024.

A spokesperson said: "Last year, our dreams of creating an enchanting and affordable Christmas experience for families in Ayrshire were unfortunately halted due to a lack of funding.

"Despite our unwavering efforts, we faced rejection that prevented us from making the magic happen in 2023.

"But hope prevails, and we're back with bigger dreams and more determination for Christmas 2024.

"We have poured our hearts into project managing, planning, and costing a spectacular event that promises to bring Whoville to life in a way never seen before for the children of Ayrshire.

"But to make this dream a reality, we need your support. We're reaching out to our community, asking for donations and volunteers to ensure the success of this unforgettable event.

"We understand it's a year away, but events of this magnitude demand extensive planning and preparation.

"With your generous contributions and volunteer efforts, together, we can create a Christmas experience that will be cherished by the children of Ayrshire."
