WORK to create a mural in Stevenston is reaching the final stages.
In September last year the town's community council were able to secure £5,000 of National Lottery funding to support the artistic project.
And in recent weeks the wheels have really started turning as the idea edges closer to becoming a reality.
At the end of last month the community council posted images showing that work had started preparing the designated area for the mural.
This is to be painted on the derelict Stevenston beach pavilion on Shore Road - across from Doon the Beach cafe.
At this stage, volunteers were working hard to tidy up the disused building prior to a base layer of paint being added.
This painting, with the help of James Frew, was carried out over the past few days before completion on Monday, May 13.
As the Stevenston Community Council shared stunning images of the pavilion's transformation they also revealed further details on how and when the mural will be painted.
They say that "in a few weeks" designs which were created by pupils from Auchenharvie and St Matthew's Academies will be added to the building.
The man putting everything together will be renowned local artist Tragic O'Hara, who is no stranger to this type of work.
Most locals will have seen a number of his works in the Three Towns already.
Amongst a number of other projects, Ardrossan man Tragic was responsible for the murals at Sloane's Jewellers and Home Hardware in Saltcoats as well as another work at the bottom of Glasgow Street in his hometown.
Exciting times certainly lie ahead as locals wait to see what his latest work will add to Stevenston.
Further updates on the work as this progresses can be found via the Stevenston Community Council Facebook page.
