Fire crews raced to the Shortlees area of Kilmarnock to tackle a top floor blaze on Wednesday night. 

Four appliances were sent to the scene in Caprington Gardens, with no casualties reported following the incident. 

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 9:25pm on Wednesday, October 11 to reports of a dwelling fire on Caprington Gardens, Kilmarnock.

“Operations control mobilised four fire appliances to the scene where crews extinguished a fire on the top floor of the two-storey building.

"There were no reported casualties and crews left after ensuring the area had been made safe."
