Flames and fireworks are set to return as the annual Stewarton Torchlight Parade returns to the town.

Organised by the town's Bonnet Guild, the popular event sees thousands of residents carry torches on a route through Stewarton.

The night ends with entertainment, a bonfire and a fireworks display that lights up the sky above the town.

This year's parade will take place on Friday, December 29, and will be led by the Kilbarchan Pipe Band, who will leave at 7pm prompt from Torrance's Garage in High Street.

The parade will then head through Main Street and Lainshaw Street, before entering David Dale Avenue and into Lainshaw Woods.

Once in the open area of the woods, a bonfire will be lit, followed by a professional firework display staged by Midnight Storm.

Further details will be available in the coming weeks for residents to buy torches and glowsticks.

A Bonnet Guild spokesperson said: "Our thanks to East Ayrshire Council, Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service for their continued support."
