An Ayrshire OAP has been traced 'safe and well' following an earlier police appeal.

Police in Ayrshire had appealed for assistance to trace Archie (Archibald) Baillie, 78, who was missing from Caprington in Kilmarnock.

Mr Baillie was seen around 7am on Sunday morning in Lochgreen Place.

However, officers have now confirmed that he has been traced, and have thanked the public for their assistance.

A spokesperson said: "Archie (Archibald) Baillie, 79, who was reported missing from Caprington, Kilmarnock, has been traced safe and well.

"Thank you to everyone who shared and responded to our appeal."
