Police have confirmed the death of an OAP in Kilmarnock on Friday. 

Officers were called to Dundonald Road in the town, near the A71 flyover, on the afternoon of May 10.

The road was closed for several hours. 

Police have now confirmed that the death is being treated as unexplained, but the circumstances are not believed to be suspicious. 

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.05pm on Friday, May 10, police were called to Dundonald Road, Kilmarnock, following the sudden death of an 80-year-old man.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained but there is not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

“A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal in due course."
