Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes has hailed his players and staff after being named the Scottish Premiership Glen’s Manager of the Month for December.

The award is McInnes' second monthly gong of the season, and comes after the Rugby Park side won four of their seven league matches in a busy festive period.

Killie took 14 out of a possible 21 points available, with victories over Aberdeen, St Johnstone, St Mirren and a 2-1 win against league leaders Celtic.

McInnes’ side also drew with Livingston and Dundee, with their record for the month including just one defeat, against Hearts at Rugby Park.

Kilmarnock currently sit fourth in the Premiership table, and the gaffer believes there is more to come from his squad.

McInnes said: “I was happy with our form in December, especially getting two wins away from home.

“I am pleased that we can reflect on good victories against Aberdeen and St Mirren on the road as well as those important wins against Celtic and St Johnstone at Rugby Park.

“The award is shared by my players and staff, recognising their efforts which sees us in a strong position at this stage of the season.

“I am enjoying working with a squad that is so full of motivation, but I still actually feel that there is a bit more to come from them.”

Colin Matthews, CEO of Glen’s owner, the Loch Lomond Group, said: “Kilmarnock had another strong month, winning four of their seven league matches – including a notable victory against Celtic, and so our voting panel had no hesitation in selecting Derek McInnes as our Scottish Premiership Glen’s Manager of the Month for December.

“Making significant progress under Derek’s leadership this season, the Rugby Park side showed strong resilience in what was a jam-packed December securing fourth position in the league table.

“My congratulations go to Derek and all involved at Rugby Park on being named the Scottish Premiership Glen’s Manager of the Month for the second time this season.”
