Darvel owner John Gall has announced that he will stand down from club duties at the end of the season.

The Brownings supremo has been with the club for eight seasons, but the Recreation Park side will now transition to a 'community based sporting structure'.

Gall helped the club achieve league titles as well as its famous Scottish Cup win over Aberdeen in his time there.

Announcing his decision, he said he wanted to focus on the growth of his bakery business.

Gall said: "It has been an absolute privilege to be involved with this fantastic club, and my support does certainly not end now.

"Due to the continued growth and expansion of Brownings and spending more time with my five young grandchildren, it's time for me to step to the side and allow a new era to begin.

"I remain committed to supporting the future of Darvel FC by continuing Brownings advertisement support and i'm delighted to announce a new partnership with Brownings as the official food and drink partner of Darvel FC for the next five years."

The club thanked Gall for his time at the helm, and has urged its fans to back the team for the rest of the season.

Current season ticket holders will be consulted on and participate in an AGM in the summer.

A spokesperson said: "The club can confirm to the players and management team that our commitment remains steadfast.

"As we continue our journey, we are thankful to everyone for their past support and encourage their continued support in the hope of further success in the future."
